Non-Retina Display Issues

Hanzi and pop-over dialog boxes look less than pleasing, they are either pixellated or unreadable. Also lessons should expire over time, reminding the user to either strengthen them or complete them one more time, just like in Duolingo. Other than these, the definition of perfect Chinese-teaching application.

Almost perfect

So far I only finished the basics. So much fun and a good way to learn so far.

Very good!

Finally a good and systematic way to learn Chinese. Seriously, most other apps are all over the place. Also, I reported a bug and it was acknowledged and fixed in the following update. Cool! That said, it still has some way to go: need some more content, a gentler learning curve and a more sophisticated character practice (perhaps integrated into the main learning process as one of the types of exercises?). I found that I have no problem recognizing the characters within the app but in real life I tend not to remember them, so overall more emphasis on character recognition would be nice. I think that in the future it has a real potential of becoming much more than just a "Duolingo" for Chinese. [version 1.6] I certainly like where this is heading. Love the redesign. Two suggestions this time: - it would be nice if there was practice button for a single node. For example, practice all lessons in the "shopping" node at once. - i could use some listening exercises, where I would have to translate a Chinese text just by hearing it or transcribe it using characters

Useful if a bit aimless

I really dig this app. Im frequently using it on my way to work and it is a good way to practise chinese. Recent update made it waaay more usable than it was previously - eg. smarter evaluation while building characters or while translating the pinyin tones are no longer necessary (it was a hassle, eg. my keyboard has no additional chars under "i") and added was an option to input chinese chars which is great! The main problem is that the app ignores what people learning chinese cover during their lessons. Eg. regardless of the textbook youre using, the use of 在 as an action indicator comes at A2 level but here its right at the beginning in the BASIC 2 set. I dont mind it much as I get to do more than at school but for some it may be confusing. All in all I like this app (especially after the update!) so yeah, you should give a shot!
